About Us

Nixon Hire are one of the leading independent hire companies in the UK with a reputation for standards and service that are beyond the norm. Let’s be honest, there are hundreds of equipment rental companies out there all hiring similar products, at similar prices to the same customers.

So what makes us different?

We recognise that we have to go the extra mile in everything that we do in order to differentiate ourselves from our competitors.

We only source modern equipment from leading manufacturers with latest safety and environmental features; we thoroughly maintain our equipment with on-site preventative maintenance programme when equipment is hired for longer periods. If equipment does break down, we have the fastest breakdown response in the industry.

Without doubt, our fantastic team of people have made Nixon Hire into the company that it is today. We pay our staff what we can afford, rather than what we can get away with. Once on board, new starters are given a comprehensive induction with structured training thereafter. We offer a generous pension scheme and child care vouchers. We strive to make the company a fun place to work, with many incentives, regular communication, employee forums and hands-on management by a board of directors that travel depots regularly, keeping in touch with staff at all levels.

Giving Back to Society

We encourage our staff to get involved in our fundraising events, arranging an annual charity event with a target to raise £10,000 per year, rising to £15,000 a year by 2015.

As one of the fastest growing rental companies in the UK, with big ambition, new opportunities become available regularly and we encourage staff to develop and grow with the business. Take for example Darran Gourley who started with us as a Storesperson. Having tried his hand as a Hire Controller and then on the road as a Sales Executive, Darran is now Workshop Manager at our biggest branch, Newcastle. David Slater runs our Site Accommodation division at Newcastle with military precision, having worked his way up to this position again from Stores and Hire Desk.

We have one of the lowest staff turnover and absence ratios in the construction industry. When our people are genuinely ill, we have a fair sick pay policy for all staff. We recognise that one of the biggest challenges of the company expanding at such a pace, particularly as our people are spread across our depot network is that we may lose touch with them.

The Bigger Picture

By the end of 2011, we plan to relaunch our intranet site which will offer an online forum to encourage better communication across every department and pool ideas together.

Regardless of job title, every one of our people represents the Nixon Hire brand. Our front line staff such as drivers, fitters and toilet service drivers come into contact with our customers all day long so it is vital that all our people all share the same values as we do.
