HS2 – Phase 1 Gets Underway

10 April 2018

With more of our accommodation units arriving in the HS2 compounds - the project is well and truly underway. Compounds one and two have so far been supplied with a range of facilites including canteens, offices and welfare facilities.

According to the HS2 website, the vision of this landmark high speed railway is to be “a catalyst of growth across Britain”, with these state-of-the-art trains due to serve over 25 stations and connect around 30 million people across the UK.

Phase 1 route of this highly ambitious project will run from London to the West Midlands and will see a new high speed line constructed to run from Euston to north of Birmingham. This is due to be completed in 2025, with the first trains expected to run in 2026. Since Royal Assent was granted last year significant surveying and enabling works have been progressing, along with billions of pounds worth of bids being proposed and awarded to the companies who will play their part in the design and construction of this vital first phase.

We are delighted to be involved, with a number of our site accommodation units heading out of our Depots and down to Milton Keynes this week to join the HS2 compounds which will provide offices away from home for those carrying out vital work on site.

Find out more about this exciting engineering project on the HS2 website, which features an interactive route map and a video of how the latest groundworks have discovered an ancient sub-tropical coastline dating back 56 million years!
