Solar Pod Shortlisted for Rental Product of the Year Once Again!

20 April 2021

We are delighted to share that our innovative Solar Pod has once again been shortlisted for an award at the European Rental Awards – in the category of ‘Rental Product of The Year’.

Over recent years we have heavily invested into our ever-growing renewables fleet due to the significant benefits for both our customers and the environment. The Solar Pod was our first renewables product brought into our fleet in 2018 and has since evolved into a range of models which have been picked up by a large number of our customers within the UK and internationally.

Across our customer sites in 2020 alone this fantastic product saved almost 3000 tonnes of carbon emissions – the equivalent of planting over 134,000 trees!

Why and how we created the Solar Pod

Within the construction industry, site accommodation has traditionally been powered by diesel generators and we wanted that to change. In 2018 we started working with our partners AJC EasyCabin to produce a product designed to help our customers reduce their reliance on diesel generators - to allow them to power sites with reduced carbon emissions, reduced fuel consumption and with minimal noise pollution to the local environment, whilst also significantly reducing fuel costs.

This resulted firstly in our H₂0 Solar Pod, superseded in 2019 by our compact Solar Pod with retractable wings and now joined by a model designed for international use - designed to withstand higher temperatures and harsher environmental conditions.

Why are they so popular?

Our Solar Pods harvest the sun’s free energy to provide a sustainable power source to sites by combining solar PV, battery storage, a backup generator and a 400 litre fuel tank in self-contained units. With a power output of 50-60kVA, one Solar Pod can power up to five accommodation units – ideal for any eco-conscious project.

As we keep our fingers crossed we would like to wish good luck to all who have been shortlisted across all of the award categories with the awards due to take place in the coming months.
