We are looking to recruit a Group Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Manager for the Company to be based in the Newcastle area, however other locations further afield would be considered depending on the right candidate.

To be an effective member of the Senior Management Team committed to delivering corporate objectives, promoting and supporting a business culture whereby safety, health, environmental and quality considerations are paramount whilst driving operational excellence through a demonstration of a strong business acumen.
-Leading the SHEQ strategy for the Company to provide compliance with legislative requirements and appropriate ISO standards.
-Advisory to the Board of such requirements; identifying shortfalls and remedial action.
-Ensuring that the Company complies with UK regulation relating to Health & Safety and Environmental.
-Strategic Management of ISO Quality and Environmental Management System to ensure Company compliance.
-Ensuring the Company has sustainable Risk Management Systems.
-Oversight of the Accidents/Incidents/Near Misses processes.
-Operating an incident reporting system compliant with RIDDOR, The Management of Health & Safety at Work and environmental regulations.
-To act as lead appointed person for the company in all aspects relating to lifting.
-Line manage a small team
NEBOSH and SMSTS qualified
Holds appointed person qualification
Demonstrable experience of developing health and safety strategy and implementing new procedures within a construction-related operation.
Experience of managing people.
Experience of leading programs of work and confidence in the ability to influence and communicate with others to deliver agreed targets.
Experience and understanding of lean techniques to develop continuous improvement through SHEQ and operational systems.
Extensive SHEQ experience gained in a hazard/risk management multi-site environment.
Experience and understanding of lifting requirements and appointed persons duties with regard to safe operation and delivery of products.
Experience of workplace transport solutions.
Understanding and knowledge of ISO standards relating to Health and Safety, Environment, Quality and Energy performance.
Demonstrable knowledge of the operation of construction and related site locations.
Strong leadership skills.
Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to demonstrate the highest degree of integrity, ethical conduct, and accountability.
Ability to fully engage with people, to communicate, educate and influence change. Whilst maintaining the good will of staff and developing a workforce which actively chooses to uphold safety standards is a key measure of success in this role.

Problem Solving/Analysis skills
Competent at using Microsoft office software.
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to travel and have overnight stays
Holds NRCQ Diploma in applied H&S
Behavioural Safety Management Qualification
